Mothers Day Is Coming!!

Mothers Day is nearly here!!! While I love the idea of having special day to celebrate our Mum's, I think it should also be a special day to think about all the special Ladies in our lives, Our bestest friends, our confidantes, Our Aunties, our Partners.  Just because a woman may not have had a child of their own, does not mean they should miss out in our thoughts and hearts that is a day for celebrating the special people in our lives. Our Mum's certainly played an important role in our lives and that makes them super special, but my Mum taught me that everyone is special!  The important female role model in your life, your Mum's best friend who helped you sneak in home when you were out too late...The Aunty who taught you to craft.  The Older lady who lived 4 doors down who taught you how to make box cheesecakes when you were 10! There are so many important women in our lives, while we are growing up, and also as we move through our lives.  I love my Mum, I know that sharing this day with other wise, intelligent, funny, crazy women, will not diminish my Mum, but more highlight all that she has taught me! That everyone is special! I love the idea of Sergio Albiac's StarDust Experiment.  It makes me think that all the people, all the things in our life create who we are.

Just because I am in a loving mood today, Any Needle and or yarn purchases over the value of $70 will get free postage (within Australia). This includes yarns listed both here on the blog and Facebook.  Mothers day free postage is valid until Monday 5th of May.

New Things A Comin!

So many things happening here in Fiberific! Land, camps for 2014 have started back up, I had a fantastic time hanging out at the 40th Anniversary celebrations Camp for Warwick Spinners and weavers.  What a great bunch of people!!

I am getting all geared up for the Bornhoffen camp, dye pots are bubblin' skein winding arm is gonna fall off!! Can't wait for my new motorised skein winder to arrive from Nancy's Knit Knacks! I will have so much more time for dyeing once I don't spend half my time skein winding!

Some Big Changes that have been rolling around in the background are starting to appear..

The new Fiberific! Etsy Store is now live.

https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/Fiberific
I close the etsy store while I am away at camps, to save any heartache.

While I will be adding yarns and fibres to the Etsy store, I am still selling Majacraft, SpinOlution, The Merlin Tree, Chiaogoo, Nancy's Knit Knacks, and all the other wonderful tools and bits and bobs, over on Facebook, via email and at camps and events... The website is not as far away as you may think...

Bye Bye 2013

It is well and truly the end of 2013, what an amazing year.  I have met many many amazing people and have even made a lot of new friends online too.  I do count online people I chat to as friends.  We read about each others lives, and instant message and chat online.  Sometimes I would talk to an online friend more regularly than real people in my life.  So yes, I count cyber buddies too.

After ending off 2012 with only a few but completely awesome suppliers.  Charly aka Ixchelbunny has and is a stalwart supporter of my little business without her help from the start I don't think Fiberific! would be here. Even though her own life has been completely crazy busy, she has kept me in good supply of her delicious fibres and yarns.  Dave from the Merlin Tree Spinning wheels! The super busy guys from SpinOlution!

This year I managed to secure Dealerships with ChiaGoo, who make amazing knitting needles, crochet hooks and nifty notions.  Nancy's Knit Knacks, these guys make awesome wooden tools, the kind of thing you can bequest to grand children, they will last forever.  Tan Tech, this is local to me (which is rare it turns out) Fantastic wool scour and washing products, made in Australia!  And then Finally Majacraft, my newest supplier.  Such a treat to be able to supply their tools and wheels! Not to forget the wonderful Australian Farmers who supply me with Gotland Wool and Mohair.

Of course I will have forgotten someone, I always do.

2013 was my break out year for my own patterns, with my first 2 going up for sale.  There are more on the way, first was the Squishable Cowl, it made its debut and my first Bendigo Sheep and Wool show, it was available in both kit and pattern only form.  Using the delectable BFL Bunny Yarn  from Ixchelbunny

Then just in time for some Christmas Quick Knits, was the Sheepy Cozy

I got to attend lots of events!

Warwick Spinners Camp
Bornhoffen (Gold Coast Spinners) Camp
Camp Pialba
QSWFA Open Day
Ipswich Spinners Camp
Redlands Spinners Open Day
QSWFA Mapleton Camp
Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show
Bribie Island (Redlands Spinners) Camp
Toowoomba Spinners Camp
Highfields Spinners Camp

So now onto 2014.... I have already got some things in the Calendar... and I will talk more about them next year.

I hope you all have lots of Fun tonight! Have a happy and safe new year! Don't forget to add "Learn a new fibre/yarn craft skill' to your new years resolution list! I might be able to help with that!

Chantelle.

28 Days to Christmas!!!!!

I thought, oh I will have a look at one of those day counters to see how many days til Christmas, to say I was surprised that it was 28 days,is a slight understatement.

With end of year things happening at DD's school, Christmas knitting and organised the Yule tide Feast for the fam, I had no idea that the days were slipping away!

And as usual, I have more things I want to get done than I have time for.  I just bought a second hand loom and I just can't wait until I put it together and warp it up, but I am not allowing myself the pleasure until the Christmas knitting and a other deadline projects are under control and the work room is tidy, at the moment there is a path from the door to the chair, but I can't sit in the chair as it has a basket of handspun yarns on it.  So handspun yarns are going to feature on the Fiberific Facebook page today, along with some exciting bits and bobs that came in my Majacraft order!!!

If you are looking for a gift for a crafty loved one, or you are that loved one and need to supply links to your significant other (like I do) then control C the blog!!

Majacraft Madness, I have it!!

I have been working behind the scenes, and can now officially state that Fiberific! is the Queensland Majacraft Dealer!!!  Yay!!  It has been a long road but we are here! I am planning out my first order lots of drive bands and hand combs and other fun bits and bobs, but also 2 new wheels to play with! Now as I am writing this blog, I have received an email from Majacraft informing dealers of a price increase on January 1st, 2014.  I don't know what sort of increase this will be.  So if you have been thinking of a Majacraft wheel, I really would suggest getting your order in before the 4th of December if you want to guarantee 2013 prices and delivery before Christmas.

I have been busy playing in the colour pots too!!!  I was included in my first ever showcase, which was very exciting for me!! Hand dyed yarns in colours inspired by Australia! I had such a great time, and I really want to thank the organisers!!! I am going to start working on some colours inspired by Christmas soon, I won't be on the standard red green and white bandwagon, so keep your eyes peeled!
